This prestigious award for our United We Stream fundraising project, recognised a successful national public relations campaign or project operating specifically in the arts, culture, sport or entertainment sectors, as well as those that promote an arts, culture, sport or entertainment service.

On announcing L.G Publicity the winner for our United We Stream Greater Manchester, entry the judges commented:

“The judges thought this entry was creative, collaborative and effective. It was a good demonstration of a PR campaign where the local government effectively worked with the local community on issues relevant to the local area.

“Their plan was wide-ranging, leveraged Manchester’s history and culture, alongside a strong public health message, all brought together in implementation with a fun element for real impact. United We Stream’s entry demonstrated good outcomes, achieving global reach and raising significant funds for charity and the local community.”

Laura Graham, co founder of StreamGM said: “The team are thrilled to win this amazing award! Thank you so much to the judging panel at CIPR. United We Stream was the most incredible and inspirational roller coaster project, led by Night Time Economy Sacha Lord to support Greater Manchester’s culture and nightlife.

“Live streaming has been around for years, but the lockdowns of 2020 and social distancing meant no more in-person events, clubbing or performances, so United We Stream became a source of escapism as audiences all over the world transitioned to live streamed experiences, connecting together through our platform.

“The some of the achievements and things that happened were nuts! United We Stream was mentioned in the Houses of Parliament by MP Kate Green, Spice Girl Melanie C showcased her DJ skills, our Virgin Money Giving page crashed due to overload from donations (it was a first for them apparently), scammers regularly targeted our bigger shows to try and steal donations, A list actors tweeted support from L.A, FAC51 Hacienda NYE poster adorned the side of 02 Victoria Warehouse, and we even got a Twitter Emoji!

“People all over the world who watched United We Stream sent messages of support and thanks for what we were doing, and it’s this i treasure the most.

“In nine months our team produced 48 original live shows, and amassed around 20 million views. The platform helped to raise £583,000 which went to 30 good causes and charities and for grants to local freelancers, venue operators and creatives.

“StreamGM is the best bits from the legacy of United We Stream, and continues to showcase the rich and vibrant culture from the best city in the world, Greater Manchester!”
