Episode seven of Spill The Sound is out at 6pm on may 20th - with standout moments of the series.
the final show has our favourite music sessions with Red Rum Club, The K’s, The Clause, Cassia, The Rolling People & Hi Sienna.
We have selected laugh out loud interview moments between host Louise Schofield, and lead singers such as Fran Doran (Red Rum Club), Chris Buxton (The Covasettes) and Seb Lowe.
With unseen footage, & a load of bloopers we purposefully kept to one side *evil laugh*, this super fun episode encapsulates the series.
the next series of Spill The Sound will begin filming in October 2024 - and tx January 2025 - wahoo!
With a mission to recapture some of the magic of Generation X music programming, Spill The Sound blends new and unsigned acts alongside established headliners.
The series is filmed in The Yard Mcr, a former Victorian school in the heart of Manchester’s Cheetham Hill. This unique setting with stunning natural acoustics, partnered with StreamGM’s production team and the support of pioneering digital broadcast technology company Blackmagic Design, gives acts a high quality, global platform to promote their music.
Spill The Sound mixes quirky interviews in a bathtub full of plastic balls, hook-a-duck quick fire QnA’s with Louise Schofield. Her cheerful chats peppered with exclusive live music sessions, feel reminiscent of legendary music television programs such as Channel 4’s music show Popworld, Granada TV’s ‘So It Goes’ (hosted by Antony Wilson) & Snub TV, a cult music show that launched The Stone Roses.
On wrapping series one, Louise said: “The lineup we’ve had on this series has been incredible. I have loved promoting and championing so many different northern bands such as Red Rum Club and The K’s.
“Presenting Spill The Sound is such a joy, it’s been wonderful getting so much positive feedback from viewers, and from talent and people in the music industry. We are a small crew who are super passionate about bringing music tv back to the north, by platforming local unsigned and renowned acts.
“We’re very excited to get back into production with StreamGM. We will cook up an exciting new run of shows with epic music taking centre stage, and the artists taking centre bath.”
Series one kicked off with tropical indie three piece Cassia. Formed in the Northern market town of Macclesfield Rob Thomas (vocals, guitar), Lou Cotterill (bass), and Jacob Jeff (drums), Cassia are dubbed a ‘sun drenched, positive, indie pop’ band with over 350,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, They were joined by scouse indie rock newcomers Wull.
The second episode was led by Birmingham’s hottest breakthrough band The Clause. Pearce Macca (lead vocals/guitar), Niall Fennell (drummer) Jonny Fyffe (bassist) and Liam Deakin (guitarist) AKA The Clause, can be found at a host of top festivals this summer, including: YNOT, The Great Escape, Live At Leeds, and James at Ludlow Castle . Manchester’s indie pop rising star Alex Spencer also came on the show and played his catchy hit: ‘One Step Forward’.
Pearce recently commented: “We had the best time on StreamGM’s Spill the Sound with Louise and the team, it’s a great, enticing platform that we’re sure is the start of something that will only get better as time goes on.”
Episode three was a rousing Red Rum Club special, with the renowned Liverpool six-piece bringing feel good vibes a plenty to the The Yard with three tracks from their latest (top ten) album - Western Approaches and an in-depth interview with lead singer Fran about Bootle's Salt & Tar, quirky soundscapes and album covers designs.
The fourth episode was a banger with Earlstown’s finest The K’s and Stockport’s rising stars The Rolling People. With their debut album ‘I Wonder If The World Knows’ hitting number three in the UK album charts and winning Best Breakthrough Act the recent Northern Music Awards - The K’s really are THE indie band of the moment.
Oldham’s Seb Lowe shared episode five with Hyde’s spoken word artist (and BBC6 Music’s Artist of the Year) - Antony Szmierek. Seb and his brilliant band performed recent regally inspired hit: ‘The Royal Family’ and Antony chatted with Louise about going on Later With Jools Holland, and his music being played on E4’s Made In Chelsea.
Spill The Sound episode six was a very, merry Mancunian special with three brilliant acts - The Covasettes, Hi Sienna and Nico Harmony.
The Covasettes (frontman Chris, bass guitarist Jamie Mcintyre, lead guitarist Matt Hewlett, and drummer Matt Buckley) formed when they were in university in Manchester together some seven years ago. The band have a strong list of achievements under their belt including sold-out shows across the country, over 11 million streams of their music, repeated national radio play on Radio 1, Radio XS, BBC Introducing, and have recently made the reputable: ‘Spotify Indie List’. Hi Sienna are a Manchester based melodic indie pop four-piece led by enigmatic vocalist Poppy-Jo Chester and Nico has been making music since her early teens with her style and delivery likened to Morcheeba or Lana Del Ray.
