The Lilacs - Spill The Sound
Wigan’s upbeat indie band The Lilacs visited StreamGM HQ for a very special Spill The Sound jamming session.
Ollie Anglesea (Vocals / Rhythm Guitar), Sam Birchall (Lead) Dave Gommersall (Drums) & Matty Johnson (Bass) popped into The Yard in Cheetham Hill to record three tracks (including a VERY cool cover of an iconic James song), and have a natter with Spill The Sound presenter, Louise Schofield about touring, music videos, last minute gigs, supporting James, pulling all nighters and VERY rude road signs!
The four-piece, born out of a two-man wedding band back in 2018, have had a bloody belting year, having played a sold out headline show at the Ritz - plus Tramlines, YNOT and the Isle of Wight festival for the fourth year in a row. UP THE LILACS!
With over half a million streams worldwide, the band have caught the ‘ear’ of various music radio shows with regular airplay on stations such as XS Manchester.
Wigan is renowned to be a hot bed of musical talent….but why?
History and working class drive, say the band.
"Wigan in general has always been a stronghold for music in years gone by, with the northern soul movement and Wigan Pier, but there's a lot of people doing it and there's a lot of good stuff as well," said The Lilacs guitarist Sam.
Catch The Lilacs on their headline tour - coming to a city near you in 2025! Head to www.upthelilacs.com for tickets & more info about the band.
