For the first time ever, Suffragette City was broadcast globally, thanks to an exclusive collaboration with StreamGM. Held on Saturday March 8th (International Women’s Day), this year’s event was a true testament to Manchester’s thriving grassroots dance culture, highlighting the power of diversity on the decks with a HUGE line up of 36 brilliant female and female identifying DJs.
StreamGM Producer Laura Graham shared her excitement about the project: “Manchester is globally renowned for dance music and club nights, but Suffragette City truly embodied the diversity and vibrancy of our grassroots dancefloors today. That’s why StreamGM jumped at the chance to capture this event for our MainRoom series, and take the event beyond YES’s red brick walls.”
Caz Owens from Suffragette City said: “Suffragette City is a protest and a celebration - the coming together of a community who raise each other up and use our voices to fight for change in the world. Music is the energy that unifies us and partnering with StreamGM gave us the extra platform to spread our message far and wide.”
Suffragette City’s organiser and DJ, Ladybeige, added: “This event has always been about championing the incredible contributions of women and non-binary DJs. This year’s line-up was stronger than ever, and with StreamGM on board, we’ve been able to amplify our mission and reach more people.”
