Meet the Artists:
Andrew Cushin – With his heartfelt, confessional indie rock, Cushin is a Northern rising force mentored by Noel Gallagher. Having supported other global renowned artists like Paul Weller, Louis Tomlinson and Johnny Marr, the talented Newcastle-born singer-songwriter delivers raw, poignant storytelling, and is due to play at Club Academy in Manchester on June 3rd.
The Guest List – Bursting onto the Manchester scene in 2021, this indie-rock powerhouse, led by Cai Alty, has taken the UK by storm. Fresh off a sold-out tour and set to conquer festival season, they bring their anthemic energy to Spill The Sound.
Adopted mancunian Megan Wyn, is a guitar playing indie-pop princess and was recently labelled a ‘woman to watch’ by rock and roll bible Clash Magazine. An old head on young shoulders, Anglesey born Wyn was recently announced as a support for global music star Alanis Morissette at Cardiff Castle this summer, and will also be performing at Liverpool’s acclaimed Sound City festival in May.
Dirty Blonde are one of the best emerging alternative-rock bands from Manchester, having grabbed the attention of industry professionals at BBC Radio 1 and Radio X. Their debut EP ‘Favourite Record’ opened up many doors for them on the UK live music scene, and were recently praised as: “one of the most exciting acts to come through Radio 1’s Future Alternative”.
Spill The Sound Music Series
Filmed at The Yard Mcr, a stunning former Victorian school in Cheetham Hill, Spill The Sound is produced by Laura Graham from StreamGM, and gives acts the opportunity to film high quality live performances, and light hearted music interviews.
Show creator Louise Schofield blends playful antics like interviews in a bathtub full of balls and hook-a-duck Q&As with electrifying live music, creating a fresh, bright take on the current indie music scene.
The show also gives valuable hands-on experience and credits to local budding production professionals and music technology students.
About filming Spill The Sound with StreamGM, Dirty Blonde’s Hayley Tait and Ailis Mackay said: “StreamGM is a game-changer because it gives Northern bands a chance to show off their talent based on skill, not who has the money. Most of these opportunities are paid for by bands or tend to happen down south, so being able to perform professionally recorded music sessions and be filmed for a digital audience is huge. Louise is also amazing at what she does and really knows her stuff when it comes to researching the bands!”
Solo artist, Megan Wyn continued: “StreamGM gives a huge opportunity for local artists like myself to reach new online audiences and music fans through Spill The Sound, the show was such great experience to film.
“I enjoyed being a part of such a big production and getting to work with such a down-to-earth and professional crew. I loved that StreamGM allowed me to be creative by letting me decide and perform a cover. I chose Camelphat & AuRa’s Panic Room, which is originally a dance track! I also got to showcase my own original music. The interview with Louise was so much fun and different from any other interview I’ve done!
The Guest List lead singer Cai Alty said: “Thanks to the team at StreamGM for having us on the show. It’s important that local bands like us have somewhere to record high-quality live sessions and interviews for our fans, and Spill The Sound provides just that.”.
StreamGM’s Mission to Produce Northern Music Legacy:
Produced and broadcasted exclusively by StreamGM for the past twelve months, previous guests include Northern fan-favourites like: The K’s, Red Rum Club, Seb Lowe, Cassia, and Antony Szmierek as well as Mancunian rising stars: Hi Sienna and Nico Harmony.
With its fresh mix of new and unsigned acts alongside established names, Spill The Sound has drawn comparisons to legendary UK music programs such as Popworld, Snub TV, and Granada TV’s So It Goes.
About the new episodes of Spill The Sound, creator and host Louise Schofield comments: “The quality of Spill The Sound has just got bigger and better with these three episodes. We’ve a vibrant, TV ready show thanks to StreamGM’s guidance and standard of production. The show is the best it can possibly be !
“Viewers are in for a belter, with the introduction of cover tracks carefully chosen and performed by each artist taking part on the show. Andrew Cushin was our very first guest on the pilot just over two years ago, and it’s amazing to have him back alongside three of the most exciting acts coming out of Manchester right now.
“The Guest List are festival-bound with their infectious sound, while Dirty Blonde and Megan Wyn bring a fiery, feminine electric energy to the show. This year, we’ve also added even more playful skits, which really capture the spirit of what makes Spill such a unique, bubbly and fun music series.”
With support from Blackmagic Design, whose pioneering digital broadcast technology enhances the series’ stunning production, Spill The Sound is providing local, emerging artists with a top-tier global platform.
