Western Approaches was released February 23rd, and has already won praise from music icon, Sir Elton John on his globally renowned Apple Music series: ‘Rocket Hour’. With their album flying high in the charts, a sell out U.K tour & U.S tour pending, 2024 is shaping up to be The ‘Club’s best year so far.

Red Rum Club perform fans favourite 'Eleanor', and infectious new album tracks: 'Afternoon' & 'Houdini'.

Lead singer Fran Doran takes to our infamous bathtub full of plastic balls to chat to presenter Louise Schofield about the album, being ambassadors for Bootle's Salt & Tar, quirky soundscapes, abandoned buildings, life on the road and so much more!

The band formed in Liverpool in 2016. They combine poetic, catchy lyrics with anthemic 'Tarntino-esque' wild western indie melodies. The group consists of Francis Doran (lead vocals), Tom Williams (guitar, backing vocals), Michael McDermott (guitar, backing vocals), Simon Hepworth (bass guitar), Neil Lawson (drums, percussion), and Joe ‘The Blow’ Corby (trumpet).

Joe from Red Rum Club said: “We were all extremely impressed with the StreamGM team when we came to film Spill The Sound with them at The Yard in Manchester. We were really looked after and enjoyed filming some of our tracks off the new album. The Yard building is really something to behold. We really liked the Spill The Sound backdrop and set too, plus the lighting made us all look good so that is a bonus!”

You can buy Western Approaches and the previous three albums from the band’s  website , catch them on tour across America from mid May, Kendal Calling & more festivals (TBA) over the summer.

Louise with Red Rum club’s Fran

Louise said: “Inviting Red Rum Club onto Spill The Sound was such a special day for myself and the crew. They are a band who have crafted an incredible sound that I’ve loved for years and they create music that spans generations and is truly timeless.

“When I first started piloting Spill The Sound, I made a wish list of bands I’d love to invite on, Red Rum Club was on that list so it was a real moment for me to have Fran in the bath tub for a chat and the full band perform two wonderful tracks from their brand new album, plus we were treated to Red Rum classic - Eleanor.

“This episode is one to warm the heart as we delve into some really lovely stories around their latest songs and journey so far during the interview alongside those harmonic live sessions. If you haven’t jumped on the Red Rum Club bandwagon yet, you’ll be a solid fan by the end of this episode.”

Spill The Sound features the best indie music talent from across The North - blending new and unsigned acts alongside established headliners.

Louise’s cheerful chats peppered with exclusive live music sessions is a reminiscent mash-up of legendary 80’s & 90’s music television programs such as: Pop World, So It Goes & Snub TV. The show is filmed in The Yard Mcr, a former Victorian school in the heart of Manchester’s Cheetham Hill.

This unique setting with stunning natural acoustics, partnered with StreamGM’s production team and the support of pioneering digital broadcast technology company Blackmagic Design, gives acts a high quality, global platform to promote their music.
