In Conversations & Masterclasses episode 2

In Conversations & Masterclasses (ICAM) second episode explores ‘Performance, Artistry & Creating Your Own Sound.’

The session, live StreamGM’s website, Spotify and YouTube is hosted by Meme Gold, with Northern breakthrough artists China Lily, Phenicia and Is33n offering their thoughts and experiences on how they got started in the creative arts industry, and how to embrace live performance.

All contributors will talk about how they have developed their individual artistry, their different creative methods and performance styles, influences, useful lessons learned and advice for aspiring artists on how to set themselves apart from the rest in a competitive industry.

Meme Gold

Host Meme Gold is a versatile and talented queer artist based in Manchester, known for her captivating work across various mediums, including costume & fashion design, performance, sound & DJ-ing. She masterfully blends her heritage with her British influences, resulting in captivating outcomes.

Meme said: “I’m super excited to be hosting StreamGM’s In Conversations and Masterclasses. Performance and sound is huge part of my career so it’s an honour to hear from those further along the journey and share that with the world on StreamGM.”

China Lilly

Soothing, liberating, and impossible are the first words that come to mind when China Lilly’s voice is dancing through the airwaves.
In a time when one’s artistic identity has never been so difficult to establish, China’s presence is incredibly difficult to ignore. An intoxicating blend of riffs and runs which seamlessly melt together her highest highs and lowest lows.

Phenicia

Phenicia is a non-binary music artist from Leeds. Their genres spans within the realm of alternative Hip Hop and jazz and they release music independently.  They also work in a multi-use venue where the focus is to provide space prioritising marginalised communities led by a worker’s co-operative, and work as a representative for the organisation Black Lives in Music. 

Is33n

Is33n is a visionary multidisciplinary creative from Manchester, who artfully blending the realms of sound design, trip-hop, and 3D worlds to craft a captivating and immersive sonic journey. Their recent works include creating the soundtrack for Manchester Fashion Institute’s 2023 graduate showcase, lead sound design for Kao Hove’s ‘Forgotten Flames’ show at Contact Theatre and supporting BORA as part of the Samarbeta residency.

The second episode of In Conversations and Masterclasses will be filmed in Cheetham Hills cultural epicentre The Yard , produced by Rebecca Swarray and streamed on the StreamGM ICAM series page Spotify and YouTube - February 7th 2024
